Chundi Ranganayakulu garu was born at Sandepudi village in Guntur District on 17th February 1915 in a middle class farmers family. His parents were Hanumayamma and Hanumantha Rayudu. He was the 3rd and the last son of them. Since childhood, he was a tireless worker, a disciplined soldier and a committed gentleman. Whatever ideas came to his mind, he wanted to execute those ideas with dedication, perfection and hard work.

Chundi Ranganayakulu garu had his education in his native place. In his 15th year he started provisions shop in Sandepudi. In 1952 he entered into Tobacco usiness and his name was well known in Tobacco industry in Andhra State. He was the first man to set up Tobacco redrying factory in Chilakaluripet. He was also a pioneer in establishing cotton ginning and pressing mills. Thus he was responsible for providing employment to rural unemployed youth. |

Chundi Ranganayakulu got a holy & humble idea of starting an Educational Institution for the rural people. He came to know that the people of the area had to send their children to far off places to pursue Higher Education. He contributed exclusively by himself a donation of Rs. 8 lakhs in the 1968. He extended his services in the field of education by establishing Chundi Ranganayakulu Polytechnic in 1982. in 1999, he established Sri Chundi Ranganayakulu Engineering College. He also founded "Smt. Hanumayamma, Hanumantha Rayudu Zilla Parishad High School" at Sandepudi in 1984 in memory of his parents. |

Sri Chundi Ranganayakulu was not only confined for the growth of C.R. Educational Institutions but also contributed lumpsum donations to P.A.S College, Pedanandipadu and J.K.C College, Guntur. His services also spread to the health and medical care. In 1984 he contributed Rs 7 lakhs to the Cancer unit named as “Chundi Ranganayakulu Cancer unit” at Government General Hospital, Guntur. He also donated A.C Machines, fans and other infrastructural facilities to the Cardiology unit of Govt.General Hospital, Guntur. |

It is a great loss to the people of the area, when he lost his breath on 4th July, 2005. It is also difficult to fill up the gap left by him for the cause of education mainly for the poor, marginalized, rural sections of Chilakaluripet area. |
